Robot changes its own batteries

UBTech demonstrated its new robot Walker S2. It can replace its own batteries.

How does it work? The robot has two slots for batteries on its back. When one runs out, Walker S2 stomps to the nearest replacement station. The robot turns its torso, grabs the dead battery with special tools and pulls it out. Then it takes a fresh one (with a green indicator - the robot sees this with cameras in its head) and inserts it in place of the old one. The whole operation takes a couple of minutes. And back to the machine!

By the way, about the size. Walker S2 is 170 cm tall - like an average person. It has a color display on its face that shows its human colleagues what it is doing. And on the back there is a big red "STOP" button - you never know what might happen.

In the demo video, instead of the usual manipulator arms, the robot has special grippers for batteries. In real life, there will most likely be replaceable attachments - to tighten nuts and change batteries with the same hands.

It turns out to be almost a perpetual motion machine. While one battery is working, the second is charging. The only break is those same couple of minutes for replacement. For comparison: ordinary robots stand on charge for hours.

UBTech is silent about the price and release date. But it is already clear - this is power. Factories will get workers who do not get tired, do not sleep and do not require lunch breaks. It remains to hope that they will not be offended by this...
