Elon Musk walked with a new robot around the Tesla plant (6 photos + 2 videos)

Elon Musk shared footage of his robot Optimus, which should become a home assistant. In the video, a tall humanoid walks around the workshop.

The robot appeared without an outer shell, which made it possible to see its complex internal structure.

Musk captioned the video: “Walking with Optimus.”

In response, viewers jokingly expressed their fears about a robot uprising.

One commented: "This won't end well."

Another added: "This is all great until the robots start killing people."

Some have compared Optimus to the NS5 robots from the 2004 sci-fi action film I, Robot.

Subscribers noted that the speed of the car resembles US President Joe Biden.

Optimus was first announced at the Tesla AI Day event in August 2021.

The first prototype of the robot was unveiled a year later, although it was unable to do much more than walk across the stage and wave.

Tesla showed in the video an updated prototype of a humanoid robot (Gen 2) in December 2023.

Gen 2 picks up the egg and holds it gently, thanks to tactile sensors in its fingers.

In another video, the robot demonstrated its balance by performing several basic yoga poses and standing on one leg.

Optimus is 180 cm tall, capable of walking at a speed of 8 km/h and lifting 70 kg.

It includes the Autopilot program used in the company's electric vehicles, which allows the humanoid to recognize objects in the real world.

Musk described his creation as a factory worker, but the robot could be "a great buddy, like R2D2 or C3PO."

It can cope with a variety of tasks - from tightening bolts to collecting groceries in stores.

The businessman noted that Optimus is not as dangerous as it seems, because an ordinary person can defeat him.
