In England, zoo staff are trying to stop parrots from swearing (2 photos)
To do this, workers placed five parrots in a huge flock. Now the main thing is that the bad guys don’t teach the whole flock to swear.
Since 2022, Lincolnshire Wildlife Park has been home to five parrots who are simply excellent at swearing. Most recently, the park was given three more parrots of the same kind, who also learned bad words. Keepers believe that someone taught one of the parrots to swear, and the other two learned from their brother.
“When we were transporting them, they were swearing in their carriers, it was terrible, there was selective swearing,” said zoo director Steve Nichols.
First, all eight birds were placed in a separate enclosure. However, they learned new swear words and learned to parody human laughter. It sounded very creepy and then the caretakers came up with a new plan, but a very risky one.
Keepers decided to place the eight swearing birds in a larger flock of 92 birds. According to the new strategy, swearers must learn new sounds and forget bad words.
"If the new strategy works, eight parrots could learn pleasant sounds, such as a microwave or a car, that other parrots in the flock like. But if the remaining 92 parrots pick up swear words instead, the aviary will have to be labeled 18+," Nichols added.
However, the zoo has not yet received a single complaint about parrots that swear.
