Plumber found dozens of bones under the bathtub (6 photos + 1 video)
A UK plumber was renovating a client's bathroom when he discovered more than 20 bones under the floorboards. Jonathan Betts, 36, posted a video of the ominous discovery on social media and it received 1.4 million views.
The man was working in a house that was over 200 years old; the owners were on vacation at the time.
“After I removed the toilet and the flooring, I found the floorboards were very rotten,” explained Betts, who runs JB Plumbing in Plymouth, Devon.
"As you can imagine, I was nervous, especially when I found a jawbone with teeth. I knew it was an animal because the teeth didn't look like human teeth."
The plumber found the second part of the jawbone among 20 fragments.
After searching the Internet and consulting with colleagues, Betts made the most important discovery - the bones belonged to a pig.
It turned out that in the old days people hid bones under the floor to ward off evil spirits. The homeowners did not break tradition and asked to return the finds to their original place.
“The owners of the house told me that there used to be a pig farm next door and they believe that the barn on their property was a slaughterhouse,” the Briton said.
“At least you’ve solved the mystery of the bones,” one commentator on social media encouraged the plumber.
“You should have called the police, they would have done the digging for you,” wrote another.
