A very rare Spyker C8 sports car will be put up for auction at the end of January (22 photos)
The now defunct company Spyker produced only 121 copies of the first-generation C8 sports car in the 2000s. One of them will be auctioned at RM Sotheby's at the end of January. Due to the rarity of the model, low mileage and excellent condition, they expect to earn from 300 thousand to 400 thousand dollars for an exotic roadster.
The Spyker company in its modern version was founded in 1999. It received its name in honor of the company of the same name, which existed in the Netherlands from 1880 to 1926. The then Spyker began with the production of carriages, later it mastered the production of cars, and during the First World War - airplanes.
Modern Spyker sports cars have many references to the brand's aviation past in both exterior and interior design. This, for example, is the silhouette of the body, complemented by characteristic air intakes, the original design of the wheel spokes in the “propeller style”, the characteristic solution of the aluminum dashboard with many mechanical switches and the unusual gear lever, which has become a special feature of the interiors of all Spykers.
The spider that will be put up for auction was assembled in 2009. Since its release, it has belonged to one person and has traveled a little over 4.2 thousand kilometers. The dark blue exterior is paired with extensive chrome trim and creamy yellow quilted leather interior. The Spyker C8 Spyder is equipped with a 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 from Audi, which in this model developed 400 hp. With. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The sports car took about 4.5 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h with a top speed of 300 km/h.
