The country's first magnetic levitation train line has been put into operation in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
The train travels at speeds of up to 180 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest urban transport in China. The train consists of six cars and can carry up to 1,600 passengers.
The line was built by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited, the largest railway equipment manufacturer in the world.
Construction of the line cost $1.5 billion.
The introduction of the Wuhan magnetic levitation train line into operation is an important event for Chinese transport. This is the first step in the development of a high-speed magnetic levitation train network in China.
Several new magnetic levitation train lines are expected to be built in China in the coming years.
