Scientists have stated that the contribution of the new product to safety will be more significant than that of electronic assistants. 
Scientists from the Graz University of Technology and engineers from one of the Bonn institutes have published a study in which they studied the functionality of an unusual innovation - brake lights placed in the front of cars. Experts have come to the conclusion that such additional lights can reduce the number of accidents by about a quarter.
Researchers believe that front brake lights will be useful, for example, when driving through intersections to inform drivers moving on intersecting courses. For example, a driver with the right of way could use additional lights to make sure that the other car is giving way, especially when making left turns.
Additional "stop lights" will also increase pedestrian awareness when crossing roadways. In this case, the lights will also make it possible to make sure that the moving car is stopping.
According to scientists' calculations, stop lights at the front of the car would reduce the number of accidents at intersections by 17 to 26%. The severity of other collisions would theoretically decrease by about 40%, since accidents would occur at lower speeds. These results, as stated in the study, are more effective than the work of electronic emergency braking systems.
According to the CarBuzz publication, a group of researchers conducted a survey of motorists in Germany and Slovakia, in which more than three thousand respondents took part. Three quarters of them supported the idea of introducing front brake lights. However, no practical steps in this direction have been reported yet; the study remains only theoretical.
