He believed that this holiday should not be celebrated in the country. The video shows how he doused the Christmas tree with gasoline and then set it on fire.
On December 31 at 08:30, CCTV cameras recorded the arson of a New Year tree installed in a park in Taraz.
The police detained a 56-year-old man. The suspect confessed and was placed in a temporary detention facility. A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Article 202 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Deliberate destruction or damage to someone else’s property.”
