TikToker shared her way to get a Christmas tree for free (4 photos)
There are people who are called “influencers”. These are individuals who are addicted to social networks, who pour out their lives for everyone to see, publish a bunch of photos and videos. They also love to give “helpful” advice.
Here's an example: One such influencer shared a sneaky way to get a "free Christmas tree" for most of December. But few people liked her advice.
People criticized her method, saying it was unlikely to work. Some say it would be easier to just buy a Christmas tree.
“Lifehack: I’m claiming my free Christmas tree thanks to our 30-day return policy.”
Well, you understand. Her whole trick is to buy an artificial tree from a store that has a 30-day return policy, use it for almost a month, then return the item to the store and get your money back
TikTokers Mason and Mai (@savingforboba) share useful tricks, money-saving tips and humorous videos with their 12,400 followers. In one of her recent videos, May told subscribers how to get a free Christmas tree.
The video, titled "Getting into the Christmas Spirit," shows May checking out artificial Christmas trees in a store. Then he chooses a Christmas tree and leaves with a box in his hands. The secret was revealed in the title of the video, which read: “Life Hack: Claim Your Free Christmas Tree With Our 30-Day Return Policy.”
The couple intended to buy the tree, use it, and then return it to the store within 30 days.
It turns out that you can use the Christmas tree for free, since the purchase price will be refunded.
This advice has caused some controversy. Commentators criticized May and Mason's plan.
“Most holiday items are non-returnable. It probably depends on the store, but the ones I worked at had no returns,” one commenter said. Another agreed: "Most stores don't allow returns like this after Christmas."
Some have wondered if it is possible to return a tree after it has been used for a month.
“You cannot get a refund for a tree without the original packaging and in original condition,” one person wrote. And another added: “As someone who works in a store, I can say that we see such tricks very well. Whether you sell it or not depends on the employee who will accept the goods from you. Some people won't care, some won't."
Some viewers were very surprised by the very posing of the question, wondering why they couldn’t just buy a Christmas tree and use it year after year. “Maybe I should buy it so I don’t have to do it again next year? A good Christmas tree can be used for many years.”
