How does the “messenger” work in animals?

25 December 2023

Employees of the Land of the Leopard National Park shared an interesting video on social networks: several different small predators approached the same seemingly unremarkable stick lying on the snow, carefully sniffed it and rubbed themselves on it.

Very tasty, attractive and magically bewitching. The stick became a real magnet for the Far Eastern forest cat, a raccoon dog and several foxes.

Perhaps it's the smell. This “marking stick” serves as a “telephone” with the help of which forest inhabitants communicate with each other.

The stick stands out on a smooth surface, so they decided to mark it.
