The appearance of boxers embodies strength and warlike power. However, in reality, dogs are the kindest and most affectionate creatures who take every opportunity to be close to their owner.
Buying a Boxer puppy means having a personal trainer, comedian, security guard, caretaker, nanny and companion at home all rolled into one furry face. These dogs are so versatile and flexible that today they are known and loved all over the world.
Boxers are descendants of an old breed of ancient German hunting mastiffs - Bullenbeissers. Their entire anatomy was sharpened for a fearless charge on a large and dangerous animal: a bear, wild boar, deer or bull. The main goal of the dogs was to hold the target until the hunter arrived. It doesn't matter at what cost. A wide, powerful jaw and large teeth helped to make a strong grip, and an upturned nose made it possible not to choke during a bite.
Now boxers, thanks to their powerful bite and good trainability, become excellent guards.
But the animals became what they are now after 300 years of hard breeding work. The first steps in creating a modern breed were made by German cynologists in the 19th century. They set themselves the goal of creating the ideal military dog. The fruits of their activity successfully served during the First World War not only as police dogs, but also as scouts, sappers, signalmen and guards. And after World War II, boxers became favorites not only in Europe, but also in the USSR and America.
In the USSR, after the Iron Curtain, breeding went in a different direction. The dogs became similar to the hunting mastiffs from which they had once been bred.
Cynologists around the world bred a more or less homogeneous population closer to the 2000s. In parallel with this, the number of purebred dogs also increased, which is why puppies began to be sold not only into “service and working” hands, but also just like that, as pets. It was then that everyone saw the other side of boxers - cheerful, active, playful and friendly. They became much more willing to have Barbosov just for fun.
This trend has continued today - in recent years, animals have consistently held the top positions in the rankings of the most popular breeds. And for a reason, because getting one such dog means providing yourself with positive energy and energy for 12 years to come. Boxers get along well with everyone in the household, children and, with proper training, other animals.
Problems with boxers are usually quite few. Especially if you approach raising a puppy competently. Dogs are ready and happy to learn - living in a comfortable apartment will not erase a century of dedicated service. In addition, boxers are not predisposed to a bunch of hereditary diseases. The scourge of the breed is heart disease and oncology, but you can get around the problems at the stage of choosing a puppy by familiarizing yourself with the genetic tests of the parents.
