A boy discovered a dangerous snake among the gifts under the Christmas tree.

A young Australian man found a venomous reticulated brown snake under his family's Christmas tree. Fortunately, the snake did not harm the boy.

The incident occurred in Hervey Bay, Queensland. A poisonous reptile crawled into the house and hid among the gifts. When the boy found the snake, he immediately told his mother about it. At first the woman decided that her son was joking, but she still looked under the tree. After making sure that there was indeed a dangerous reptile in the house, she immediately turned to a snake catcher for help.

Specialist Drew Godfrey, who arrived at the house, said that a reticulated brown snake had entered the family’s house, the toxicity of which ranks second among all land snakes in the world. The length of the reptile was about 50 centimeters.

Godfrey successfully caught her. “Snakes this small and fast are very dangerous to deal with. She can get to my hand faster than an adult,” says Godfrey.

According to the snake catcher, the reticulated brown snake, like most other species, is not aggressive and will only bite if it feels threatened. “Snakes are afraid of us, that’s why she tried to hide among the gifts. She’s not going to bite anyone, but if you disturb her, she will defend herself,” the specialist explained.
