A familiar car to all fans of the NFS game - Lamborghini Diablo SV will be auctioned (41 photos)
In the coming days, Sotheby's will hold a closed auction at which the Lamborghini Diablo SV roadster will be offered. It is generally accepted that the company managed to build only two cars and one of them was a factory prototype. That is, there is now only one Diablo SV in private hands. Auctioneers cannot predict how much they will be able to fetch for it.
The Italians planned to release an open version of the Diablo SV in 1998, borrowing the removable roof technology from the production Diablo VT. The future new product differed from the roadster that had already gone on sale by that time in the Super Veloce specification with a 530-horsepower version of the proprietary 5.7-liter V12, rear axle drive, reinforced brakes and different aerodynamics.
The first roadster prototype was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1998. However, the company at that time was going through a period of transformation, coming under the control of Audi, and the project, despite positive feedback, was frozen. Nevertheless, the company still built one copy of the open Diablo SV for external sale - at the request of one of the leading Italian dealers of the brand, who contacted Lamborghini management directly.
During the construction process, the roadster was slightly modified in comparison with the prototype, and was also equipped with a rear wing and a body lifting system on the front axle.
The car has a fully documented history, original condition and a relatively low mileage of 42.8 thousand kilometers. Due to its rarity, auctioneers call the roadster a “car unicorn.” However, what amount is planned to be earned for the unique Lamborghini is not specified.
