Unique footage of how a small kangaroo grows in a pouch (3 photos + 1 video)
25 mm in length: how the smallest baby among mammals grows.
Kangaroos have a completely unique feature that distinguishes these animals from all others. Their cubs are born tiny, about 2.5 centimeters in length. Moreover, their mothers are usually about 1.4 meters tall. Of course, only scientists can observe such a baby, and then only in rare cases. So footage of a baby kangaroo is incredibly valuable.
The baby is born about a month after conception. The baby moves through the fur into the bag and immediately attaches itself to the chest.
So he will live for about three months, gaining strength and growing hair. Then the kangaroo begins to occasionally get out of the pouch, but at the same time he does not leave his mother for a long time. This “bag” stage with periodic escapes will last about six months: the cub will always return to its cozy nest.
Eventually, he becomes independent and begins to lead a full life outside the bag. As soon as the kangaroo finally leaves its house, its younger brother is immediately born, and the process begins again.
