58-year-old virgin rejected 15 marriage proposals (5 photos)

Dunya took a vow of celibacy 35 years ago and remained to live in the wilderness. Having become Burnesh, as they are called in Albania, a woman voluntarily gave up her sex life and took over the male role in the family.





Duni, 58, does not consider herself transgender, but according to her promise, she wears men's clothing and has cut her hair and remains a virgin. But before taking the oath of chastity, the woman managed to reject 15 marriage proposals by the age of 23.

“I had many opportunities to get married. But I wanted to be free, and I had this opportunity thanks to my father. He was an open-minded man, very educated. I told all my brothers and sisters: “Don’t tie the knot too early. Enjoy your life."



Dunya became a Burnesh after her father died, when she had younger brothers and sisters to take care of. She said losing her father meant either getting married or keeping her vow and serving her own family.

She chose the second; financial support also fell on her shoulders. Now the woman lives in the village of Lepushe in northern Albania, she is accompanied by a German shepherd.



Duni is also a fan of the Italian national football team, whom she loves so much that she once locked her nephew in the house for two hours when they quarreled over his passion for the English team Three Lions.



Duni added that she never dreamed of marriage. And even at that time, grooms did not approach the girl they liked directly; everything was decided by the parents.

"I always refused, I was not interested in who the groom was. Families came to our house and tried to persuade me to marry their son. But I said no, even in good times for Albania. I was always against it. I was very strong , so most of the guys were afraid of me, and even today they are."
