Authorities in Orange County (USA) declared this fire one of the most difficult in the history of the region.
The huge wooden hangar at World War II Marine Corps Air Station Tustin in Orange County, California was used in the filming of Austin Powers, Pearl Harbor and Star Trek, as well as Jaguar and The X-Files. . During World War II, airships were stored there.
In 1993, the American Society of Civil Engineers included it in its list of Historic 20th Century Civil Engineering Sites.
At one o'clock in the morning on November 7, a flame broke out in it and quickly spread through the wooden structure.
Firefighters even brought in helicopters to extinguish the fire, but due to the complexity of the structure and its enormous size, it was not possible to quickly extinguish the fire. Then it was decided to drop the hangar dome to make it easier for firefighters to work.
It took 24 days to put out the fire. The fire has been called one of the worst in the region's history in one of the largest all-timber buildings ever built.
