An abandoned house from 1842 with a dark history (13 photos)
Brian Sansivero walked into an abandoned mansion in Virginia and saw several life-size mermaid dolls. But this turned out to be not the most interesting. Local historians said that during the Civil War, soldiers lived in the house, and then it was converted into a restaurant. It was during this time that the owner was found guilty of murder and hiding more than 20 bodies in the basement.
"When I first walked into the house, I didn't know its history. I saw the big ominous house while driving around Virginia and I was just curious. However, I felt that some strange or tragic story must have happened here ", says the photographer.

“In 2018, no matter how many pictures I took, they all turned out blurry. There was no explanation for this. In 2020, I tried to visit the mansion again, but when I got there, I realized that I forgot my camera, this happened to me for the first time. It’s like "Something prevented me from capturing this house. The third time was lucky."

"There were vintage clothes scattered everywhere. I found several mermaids. I tried to find some information about them on the Internet, but to no avail."

Other than the architecture and construction date of 1842, there was no evidence that the house was used during the Civil War. Even a local historian had difficulty following the story. All furnishings date back to the 1940s and later.
