Japanese Honda has released an unusual means of personal mobility - a folding electric scooter called Motocompacto, capable of supporting a rider weighing up to 120 kilograms. Made in the form factor of a thin suitcase with dimensions of 74x53.5x9.4 cm, the scooter with a net weight of 18.7 kg accelerates to the maximum 24 km/h in 7 seconds and is capable of traveling up to 19 km on a full charge.
The 490 W (0.6 hp) electric motor installed in the front wheel is powered by a 6.8 ampere-hour battery. The built-in charger allows you to fill the battery with energy up to 100% in 3.5 hours from a household network. The driver's weight should not exceed 120 kg, the height of the saddle and steering wheel are adjustable.
The electric scooter comes with a smartphone application that provides the owner with information about the charge level, battery status and other useful information, including the optimal route for the trip.
The Motocompacto, the ideological successor to the Motocompo scooter from the 1980s, is positioned as “last mile transport” and is ideal for getting around the city center or a student campus. Its small size and flattened appearance make it easy to transport in the trunk of a car, on public transport, and even stacked when stored.
Sales of the new item, priced at $995, are carried out through the Honda website and at brand dealerships.
