Tesla Cybertruck turned out to be more expensive than expected (2 photos)

One member of the Cybertruck Owners community shared information received directly from a Tesla employee. Since he was among the first 500 lucky ones who submitted a request for the car before others, the company gave the client a choice between a dual-engine and a triple-engine version, while informing the final price.





Before we name it, let us recall that four years ago it was said about the possibility of purchasing a top-end modification for $69,900. Which in itself is pretty good for the workhorse that the Cybertruck was positioned to be. Inflation and unforeseen manufacturing costs have pushed up the price significantly—it now starts at $98,990, and that's before taxes and other fees add almost 10%.



For the same amount in the States, you can get the flagship three-engine Hummer EV with a much more comfortable and rich interior. There is something to think about for the million potential customers who ordered the hot new product. And the Tesla electric truck is unlikely to become widespread in the coming years - Ford people with their F-150 can breathe a sigh of relief.

Thanks to the information received, it is easy to recalculate the updated price of a simpler twin-engine (previously $49,900), increasing it by about a third. At the same time, according to Musk, by producing “cybertrucks,” his company will operate at a loss for a long time, i.e., the cost of stainless steel trucks is even higher.

The premiere of the Cybertruck is expected in November, and then the price lists will be revealed in full. Unfortunately, competitors also do not indulge in prices. For example, the real price of the Rivian R1T is approaching the threshold of $78,000. Thus, the most affordable in the segment (at least formally) remains the same slightly problematic Ford F-150 Lightning with its starting price of 49,995.
