Shipping of Tesla Cybertruck electric vehicles to customers should begin on November 30 (3 photos)

The path from showing the Tesla pickup prototype to putting it into production took four years and there is still no final clarity about the car.





During Tesla's teleconference, which discussed the company's financial results for the third quarter of the year, a special statement was made that deliveries of Cybertruck electric pickups would start on November 30. Production of the new product will be carried out at a gigafactory in Texas with an annual volume of 125,000 units at the initial stage, with a further increase to 250,000 cars.

Of course, this is good news for people who took the risk of ordering a Cybertruck, and indeed for any car enthusiasts who are eager to get acquainted with the first independent tests of this amazing pickup truck. Moreover, even now there are more questions than answers.

In particular, the cost of the Cybertruck still remains unknown. Back in late 2019, the automaker notified the public that pricing would start at $39,900, the mid-range variant would start at $49,900, and the flagship three-motor model would be available starting at $69,900. However, these prices disappeared from Tesla's corporate website in 2021, and no new prices have appeared since then.

The Cybertruck's production specs remain a mystery, as do trim levels and other details needed to purchase a vehicle. One can only hope that all the missing information will be voiced as part of the presentation.

In terms of profitability, the first year and a half of sales of a stainless steel electric car will bring nothing but losses to Tesla, as Elon Musk himself honestly said in a conversation with analysts and investors. “I would like to immediately temper expectations for the Cybertruck,” he said. “It’s a great product, but from a financial perspective it will take a year to 18 months before it starts generating significant positive cash flow.”
