PteroDynamics drone turns into an airplane during flight

A company called Pterodynamics (a reference to pterodactyls) has presented the general public with its unique project: an all-electric glider drone that has a folding wing system.

This system allows the device to switch between two main modes of operation: flight at cruising speed and hover mode (after a vertical take-off).

At the same time, the presented drone is only a large-scale model of a future full-size aircraft.

The mock-up drone's physical dimensions are approximately 2 m in length, but the wingspan is already 4 m.

A new product from the company’s engineers is a system of integrated hinges on which the wings rotate when folded and deployed.

At the same time, the design “with an eye to the future” was calculated immediately for 10 passengers, and familiar helipads would be suitable for operating such an aircraft.

The creators of the “pterodactyl drone” claim that they were able to successfully combine airplane, helicopter and cruising flight modes in their design, and all the shortcomings that were found in these designs before have been completely eliminated in this one.
