A woman became a beauty blogger despite her disability (25 photos)
Hannah Teer, 28, was born with a rare condition called osteogenesis imperfecta, or “crystal man” disease. Due to her fragile bones, she needs outside help every day. However, this did not stop her from becoming a famous beauty expert with many followers on social networks!
People with disabilities have proven time and again that disability does not stop you from achieving great results and living life to the fullest if you really want to.
This is Hannah, a 28-year-old beauty blogger who faces daily challenges associated with a rare bone disease.
Hannah was born with so-called “brittle bones,” which break very easily.
“My disease is called osteogenesis imperfecta. It is caused by faulty genes. These genes influence how the body produces collagen, a protein that helps strengthen bones. Because of this, I have had more than 100 fractures in my life. I broke every bone in my body,” Hannah says.
Hannah needs help from others with daily activities, such as getting dressed or bathing.
“My childhood was very normal, despite my disability. I am very grateful to my family for always encouraging me and supporting me in everything I wanted to do, from cheerleading to social media. It was sometimes difficult to watch my peers perform simple tasks without needing help or spending so much time, but it made me realize that there is nothing wrong with needing help; everyone does it at some point.”
Luckily, Hannah's family has always been very supportive and there for her.
Hannah lives life to the fullest: she travels, goes to concerts, meets friends
Hannah became interested in makeup at the age of 12, as it was one of the few activities she could do without outside help.
“I became interested in makeup at the age of 12. On weekends I would play with makeup in my bedroom and I loved that it was something I could do on my own without any help. In 2015, I finally plucked up the courage to post my first tutorial video on YouTube.”
When Hannah plucked up the courage to create accounts on social networks, her materials quickly became popular
“When I first started posting content, I couldn’t even imagine that I would go viral and achieve such popularity. I hope to help young girls and women with my makeup tutorials and provide them with the mentorship that I didn't have back then."
Despite her disability, Hannah constantly inspires others with her talents as a makeup artist and resilience, proving that beauty comes in different forms.
“If you can dream, you can achieve your dreams! There will be days when you feel like giving up: take a break, but don't quit, and never be afraid of failure, because through it you grow and learn."
