82-year-old tourist rode 965 km on a pony with her dog (12 photos)

Jane Dotchin from Hexham, UK has just completed an annual trip with her beloved dog Dinky and her faithful pony Diamond. Camping and long trips have been a tradition for her since 1972, when she set off from her home in the north of Scotland. The picturesque route and the feeling of freedom made an indelible impression on Jane.





Her travels usually take seven weeks. Jane and her companions cover 25-30 km a day. She spends the night in a tent and eats by the fire. Her diet consists of simple and satisfying dishes such as oatmeal cookies, porridge and delicious cheese. Everything tastes better in nature!

Jane is always prepared for emergencies: she carries with her an old mobile phone, the battery of which lasts for six weeks.

"I don't walk in the pouring rain. There are several routes I can choose depending on the weather. I don't want to go over the tops of hills in bad weather, but I decide along the way," says the pensioner.

Over the years, Jane has learned the route well. Half a century later, she knows every turn and hill. She also made friends with locals and other travelers.

The woman adores Scottish nature, especially in the autumn months, when nature reveals its entire palette - the golden crowns of birches, the brown of maples and the purple fields of heather. Sharing this beauty with two pets is just a dream.

She sleeps in a tent, faces the first cold and eats a lot of cheese





13-year-old pony Diamond and 10-year-old dog Dinky are Jane's companions. Dinka's paws are deformed and she has difficulty walking. Luckily, she can sleep soundly in a special bag while Jane and Diamond drive through the countryside. However, their adventure is not without difficulties.

“You have to be careful when you drive on the side of the road because there are bottles and cans and pizza boxes and everything,” says Dotchin. “When Diamond gets scared from stepping on something, it’s hard for him to step back.” onto the road, which can be very dangerous."

Jane has vision problems. Her eye was injured when she ran into branches. But that doesn't stop her, she just walks a little slower.

For most of her long life, Jane led an active lifestyle, working manually in the fields, caring for horses, and at one time she had a riding school. She passed on her knowledge and experience to her students. Who knows, maybe they will continue her tradition?
