The businessman was unable to attend the ceremony personally. Rumor has it that he had more important things to do.

At the 74th International Astronautics Congress in the capital of Azerbaijan, the head of SpaceX, Elon Musk, was announced as the winner of the honorary 2023 IAF World Space Prize for individuals.

According to members of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the American businessman deserved the award for his outstanding contribution to space exploration and the development of astronautics. First of all, for the development of reusable rockets, plans to create a colony on Mars, and also for the willingness to put all their resources on the line to achieve the goals of SpaceX. Musk changed the aerospace industry and ushered in a new era in space exploration, IAC members say.

"Mr. Elon Reeve Musk has demonstrated a visionary understanding of the role and importance of space exploration for the future of humanity, coupled with a willingness to dedicate his own resources, life and passion, and the ability to make it a reality through the Space Technology Exploration Corporation (SpaceX); a company that is aligned with space advancements agencies in the field of launch systems and human spaceflight, making space accessible and creating space for everyone,” the organization said in a congratulatory message.

Musk was unable to attend the award ceremony in person. Stephanie Bednarek, senior director of commercial launch sales for SpaceX, received the award instead.

It is noteworthy that on the day of the award ceremony, Elon Musk broadcast the game Diablo IV on his social network X (formerly Twitter).
