While filming the video, the biologist was struck by lightning (5 photos + 1 video)
35-year-old biologist Forrest Galante filmed the video in the Everglades, USA. While recording, while he was narrating, powerful lightning struck right next to him. According to the guy, it was as if he was paralyzed for a second - and lightning went through his entire body.
Wildlife biologist and researcher Forrest Galante, 35, was filming a video for his YouTube channel last week. Filming took place in the natural tropical Everglades complex in Florida, USA. While the naturalist was recording the video about the importance of GPS trackers in the wilderness, lightning struck near him.
“I was hit, hit, it hurts,” the biologist says in the video after the hit, running away to the side.
After the powerful blow, the biologist, as well as his videographer, ran to the side. That same day, Galante posted a video recounting the incident. He said that he went to the Everglades to shoot a promotional video, and towards the end of the day the weather began to turn bad. It began to rain, and he and his partner heard thunder. His cameraman, a local resident, suggested that Galante return before the weather completely worsened - but he insisted on continuing filming.
“Lightning struck about four meters from me, and for a split second I seemed to be paralyzed. I felt this strike in my legs, lower back, then in my heart and in my mouth. The pain was most in the chest area. Immediately after the strike, I had an aluminum taste in my mouth "- said Galante.
He added that his partner was not injured - unlike him, the operator had one foot in the water and quickly removed it during the impact.
