BMW Isetta turned into a dragster and pickup truck (9 photos + 2 videos)
American Mike Brown announced the completion of a major project, the basis for which was two copies of the iconic BMW Isetta, produced between 1955 and 1962. The first car was turned into an ultra-compact dragster with a motorcycle engine, and the second into a pickup truck to transport it.
In both cases, homemade products are based on custom spatial frames: in fact, only bodies from Isetta are used, but the external design of the cars is designed in an authentic style. The tiny dragster has massive rear wheels, which are driven by a V-twin engine from a Harley Davidson Shovelhead using a chain drive. In addition, the car was equipped with a newly decorated interior in golden colors.
The pickup truck's cargo bed is designed to fit the dragster's dimensions. This Isetta also lost its stock engine, replacing it with a Chevrolet straight-six.
Both cars have their own ironic names: the dragster is called Big Dill, and the pickup truck for its transportation is called Pickle Jar. This coming weekend, Mike Brown will present his work at the Hot Wheels Legend festival in Phoenix: this is part of a large competition program for the famous toy manufacturer. Festival winners earn the right to have their work immortalized as part of the Hot Wheels 1:64 scale lineup.
