An interesting discovery was made by archaeologists working on excavations of the tomb of an Egyptian queen.

Hundreds of surviving jugs of 5,000-year-old wine were found by archaeologists during excavations of a tomb in Egypt.

The discovery was reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. An Egyptian-German-Austrian archaeological mission was working on the tomb of the ancient Egyptian queen Merneit in the city of Abydos, who reigned around 2950 BC and was the most influential woman of her era. During the excavations, experts discovered several funerary objects, among which were hundreds of large jugs of wine, some of the vessels were sealed, and the drink was preserved in them. The age of the wine is estimated at almost five thousand years. Analysis of the drink will help scientists find out what the art of winemaking was like at that time.
