New York was soaked by the heaviest rain in the last 140 years
Three months ago, a storm hit New York and several people died. And here again - now the city was hit by a powerful downpour. The streets were flooded and authorities stopped traffic along the main transport artery of eastern Manhattan - on the FDR Drive section. Flights were temporarily suspended at LaGuardia Airport and then one of the terminals was closed. The Transportation Authority is asking residents to stay home and avoid using the subway if possible. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that up to 13 centimeters of rain fell in some areas of the city and about 13 more centimeters is expected 18 centimeters. This is a very life-threatening storm. Count on this over the next 20 hours,” said the state governor. And she declared a state of emergency.
