No matter what anyone says, “Harry Potter” is a phenomenon of mass culture. The boy wizard is loved all over the world. Moreover, we are talking about both a film adaptation and a literary original. The creators of the film version managed to choose the actors so successfully that no matter how many years have passed, humanity will always associate Harry Potter with little Daniel Radcliffe, Hermione with Emma Watson, and Ron with Rupert Greene, and so on. Therefore, no matter how many sequels, prequels, spin-offs and reboots the filmmakers plan, no one will be able to repeat the success of the “canonical Potter series”. Do you know who gives a damn about this? That's right, the Indonesians who filmed their... Harry.
Yes, Indonesia filmed its adaptation of Harry Potter with the most modest budget possible. It's called "Alpha" - it's a 42-episode series. And the best part is that local viewers liked it and even became a cult film. The series tries to copy the original films as closely as possible. The funny thing is that the series came about because Warner Bros. at one time they did not want to pay taxes in Indonesia for the rental of the original Harry Potter.
And so "Alpha" was born... the boy who didn't pay.
