Australian James Webb ranks fifth in the world in terms of speed eating food. For the first time, a man took part in such competition just two years ago, but he liked it so much that now he just can't stop. He even trains specially to bring your digestive system to its maximum capacity.

Last Sunday James Webb took part in US chicken wing eating championship Wing It On and beat the world record. At the same time, he defeated the man whom he himself calls the greatest Eater in History, Joey Chestnut.

Webb discovered his hidden talent two years ago when I accidentally decided to take part in a speed eating contest burgers near the Hunter Valley in New South Wales (Australia). AND climbed the career ladder very quickly, becoming fifth competitive eater in the world.

He takes his health seriously to compensate for the consequences of overeating, and is regularly examined by doctor

“I check my blood every two months, and my doctor more worried about me losing a tooth because how can you see, I bite chicken wings like they’re cake.”

In this type of competition, as in big sports, it is impossible do without training. James Webb spoke about how he is preparing for competitions such as the world famous eating contest hot dog event, hosted by Nathan's Famous. Or worldwide donut eating competition (James won this year too) competition, eating 59.5 donuts and breaking Chestnut's record).

“It is very important to go to the gym regularly or engage in some kind of sport or active recreation. There is also stomach capacity that needs to be developed. I like to go to buffet establishments and see how much food I can fit in yourself in a couple of hours.”

It is not surprising that he is not a very welcome guest for such establishments.

“One day I went to a cafe where you can eat as much as you want. whatever, and they apologized and said that they had no seats, although the cafe only opened and all the tables were empty.”

“You know the Brazilian barbecue restaurants where to your come to the table and bring meat shish kebab? I've been to these restaurants before, and they skip our table on principle. Or we came to the restaurant Pizza Hut, where you can eat all you want, and they started turning off the lights and putting chairs on tables to make us leave. Even though it was a Thursday only 7 p.m.

In addition to general physical training and “stretching” the stomach, the important point, according to Webb, is practicing technique. Both he and him fellow competitors are perfecting various speed eating techniques hot dogs, burgers, donuts, wings, etc. Someone soaks hot dog in water to make the bun easier to swallow, someone is looking for the best way to break up a sausage before putting it in your mouth...

James, for example, believes that the key to victory was his method of eating chicken wings. He says that what helped him was that Australian wings are “skinny”, so he is used to eating all the meat off the bones - unlike American eaters. And he tries hard in competitions eat as much meat from the wings as possible, knowing that the remaining bones are the judge They will weigh it so that everything is fair.

The guy, one might say, simply clawed his way to the world record.
