Today we will talk about albinism - this is a rare genetic a disease that has no cure. It is characterized by complete or partial absence of pigment. Because of this, a person may have some separate parts of the body, hair are light.



Our heroine - Mirian Njo - is an albino. She always stood out against the background of the rest, and especially in childhood. And what made her special was that she is African American with albinism. This race is usually characterized by dark skin, dark eyes, curly hair, wide nose, with flattened nose, plump lips. But Mirian was a stranger everywhere because of appearance.



"When I was growing up, I felt isolated at times, because I didn't have anyone to look up to. Big part of the time I was ignored. And there was no one to share the experience with put pressure on me,” the girl admits.

In Africa, the number of albinos varies from one in 5,000 to one in 15,000, depending on the region.



Growing up, Mirian found two things that attracted her: music and design. She began to develop in these directions, as well as keep a personal blog. She was noticed, invited to work as a model.

She graduated from Ryerson University School of Fashion and is now deals with style, photography, modeling and content creation for their social media pages.



The girl also worked with famous artists, for example, with Rihanna. Now Mirian does not hide his appearance, but on the contrary emphasizes with the help of bright images and makeup, she experiments with hair and style.
