A 13-year-old tourist survived after falling from a height of almost 30 meters in Grand Canyon, USA. The guy just stepped back onto the ledge to let other tourists to take pictures at the cliff - but in the end it was all over sadly.
13-year-old hiker from North Dakota survives fall from height of 30 meters in the Grand Canyon - one of the deepest canyons in world, located in the US state of Arizona. Teen named Wyatt Kaufman was on the ledge, and just before the fall stepped aside to allow other tourists to take pictures at cliff. It happened on a trail called Bright Angel Point.
"I squatted down and held on to a stone. True, held with only one hand, and the grip was rather weak. I suddenly staggered and began to fall back," the guy said in an interview with hospital bed.
After the fall, rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene. Them it took two hours to get the boy: he had to go down rope from a cliff and pull Wyatt in a special basket. Then it I was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital. He was found to have nine broken vertebrae, as well as rupture of the spleen, collapsed lung (pneumothorax), concussion, fracture of the hand and dislocation of the finger. How it turned out that during the incident the guy was without parents: at that time they were on a trip, but later took their son from the hospital for further recovery.
According to the US National Park Service, the trail Bright Angel Point - very popular and picturesque, but at the same time narrow, steep and dangerous in some places.
