The ghostly village of Al-Madam, forever frozen in the sandy embrace of the desert (14 photos)
Atmospheric abandoned buildings with history attract. After all, everyone in deep down believes that a busy place filled with life, people forced to leave some supernatural things.
Legend has it that an abandoned village near the small town of Al Madama (about an hour drive from Dubai, UAE), came about in this way.
Nearly twenty years have passed since the local gathered and immediately left their homes. According to local folklore, people were forced to leave their habitable places by a terrible genie.
In Arabic mythology, this is a disembodied invisible creature, which consists of a smokeless flame and has the ability to influence human mind. Very dangerous. And since in the ranks of the inhabitants there are no turned out to be their Aladdin, then to cope with the otherworldly essence they they could not and simply left the desert chosen by the genie.
Of course, this is just a beautiful and scary tale. And although not managed to establish the exact reason for the departure of people from houses built in 70s in a housing project, probably the main culprit is desert.
Al-Madam differs from the usual abandoned place in that there is no habitual for such places of devastation - twisted skeletons, collapsing fences and all that sort of thing.
The buildings are well preserved. They could well live. But the only inhabitant of the ghostly village is sand. Which step by step, meter by meter absorbs the creations of human hands. A then reluctantly gives it back. Like a giant child invisible to the eye plays in the sandbox, pouring out the contents of the bucket on the houses, and then clears buried under a thick layer of the structure to continue the game.
Residents of the neighborhood claim that there is something in this sand strange. Does its anomalous nature really make itself felt, or it's all about the usual migrating dune? To try and find the answer to this question and admire the greatness of the elements, which could not resist man-made project, tourists from different countries come here.
And the locals carefully fuel the rumors about genies. Maybe for stable income. But it's possible that they pay the deserted genie a percentage, so that he fulfills his part of the deal and monitors maintaining the surreal look of this place.
