Joseph DiMeo's life was forever changed in 2018. He worked, moved out from his parents, he had goals, but after the night shift he fell asleep at the wheel of his own car.





22-year-old boy crashed into a curb, his car overturned and caught fire, a minute before the explosion some stranger pulled it out, most saved life. But Joseph certainly did not want such a life.



He suffered 3rd degree burns, 80% of his body was affected, most people simply do not survive such injuries. Some months he was in a medically induced coma, underwent many operations and skin transplants. But still remained dependent: mobility was reduced, the face was distorted, vision was affected.



As a result, the doctors offered Joseph hand and face transplants. Was a small% that everything will work out, but the guy really wanted to live, he had motivation, so he turned out to be the perfect patient. In the end, he was given transplantation of both hands up to the middle of the forearm, including nerves, blood vessels and 21 tendons, as well as parts of the face.



After the transplant and recovery, Joseph met Jessica. He met her on the Internet, writing that they have the same dog breeds. After a lot of talking, Jessica just came to meet in person. They had a lot in common, so the couple immediately got along.



After a while they started dating. Jessica admitted that her 24-year-old boyfriend has the face of a 47-year-old donor, but she never thought about it. According to Joe himself, he has not changed inside, he still has the same personality.
