Helicopter of the Georgian border service almost crashed on Mount Kazbek
The helicopter left the nose landing gear on the ground.
Yesterday afternoon, a Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the State Border Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia almost repeated the tragedy of last summer, when the same helicopter crashed in the mountains near Gudauri.
The footage shows how the helicopter hits the ground during an unsuccessful landing approach and loses the front landing gear. Fortunately, he manages to gain altitude and go to the second circle.
Polish tourists watching the incident recorded an emotional video with obscene cries familiar to the whole world.
It is noted that the landing site is located at an altitude of 3650 meters near the weather station. However, the border guards could not get there. The same board made a second attempt to land, but the pilot failed again. Today, according to local media, the rotorcraft will try to take the impregnable mountain again. According to preliminary data, the Mi-8 was unable to land due to overload.
The video below shows last year's tragedy near the village of Gadauri, next to which there is a ski resort. There were 8 people in the Mi-8 of the Georgian border police, including two rescuers and doctors, who were sent to search for the missing paragliders. All the people on board were killed. Due to the tragedy, on July 30, 2022, mourning was declared in Georgia.
