They smeared red paint on the glass protecting Claude Monet's The Artist's Garden at Giverny.
Thus, the girls tried to draw attention to the problem of climate change. The activists glued themselves to the canvas frame. Soon they were detained, they are going to be charged with aggravated vandalism.
Whether the painting was damaged during the rally, the police have not yet reported. One of the detainees' associates, Helen Wallgrren, noted that the purpose of the action was to call for a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in Sweden.
“We must do everything possible to draw attention to this climate catastrophe and our demands to restore land that contains a lot of carbon,” she said.
