The kids just wanted to play football and made their stilt house village famous.
Stilt dwellings can be found today in coastal cities and on the islands. In Thailand, for example, there is a whole village where everyone buildings stand on piles: residential buildings, schools, medical facilities and even a football stadium. This is the small village of Ko Panyi, where less than 1700 people live. It is located near Phuket, during tours of the local bay, tourists are brought to Koh Panyi for lunch.
So what is the village famous for? This is a unique settlement where almost all the buildings stand right in the water. The village was founded by the Malay seafarers in the 18th century. Then they were looking for a new place to live with lots of fish and found it in Phang Nga Bay. In those times people of non-Thai origin could not own land, so the settlers decided to take possession of the sea. They chose a rocky island right in the bay and built the first housing next to it. Over time the village has grown, and today 360 families live here.
The village is also famous for the fact that only Muslims, although in Thailand 95% of the inhabitants practice Buddhism. But the most the famous story of Koh Panyi deserves to be filmed: ordinary village the boys wanted to play football and built the stadium themselves right in sea.
