The MV Gemini was launched in 1992 in Valencia. The vessel is almost 165 m long and is designed in the style of luxury private yachts. The ship has eight decks and about 400 cabins.
For 30 years of life, the ship was renamed several times and participated in a variety of events. In 1992 Crown Jewel (so then was called a liner) was a floating hotel for visitors to the Summer Olympic games in Barcelona. In 2017 it was used as a mobile base for rescue teams with the consequences of the devastating hurricanes Irma and "Mary", and after the devastating earthquake in February 2023 the ship became a temporary home for the displaced Turkish people.
Since 2020, the vessel has been owned by Miray International, this company created a subsidiary specifically for the launch of a three-year cruise travel brand Life at Sea Cruises. The cruise line says the 1,074-passenger ship will be refurbished in time for the cruise.
375 ports in three years
The main group of tourists will board in Istanbul on November 1, however, if desired, this can also be done on November 5 in Barcelona and November 16 - in Miami. After that, the liner will proceed to side of Antarctica, then completely bypasses South America and through The Panama Canal will enter the Caribbean Sea.
After bypassing the islands, the liner will again be in the Pacific Ocean and will head for Hawaii, after which it will go to East Asia, where the ship will visit Japan (12 stops), South Korea (including Jeju Island) and China. Of course, travelers explore most classic destinations in Southeast Asia: Bali, Da Nang in Vietnam and coast of Cambodia, will visit Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Guests cruises will also see Australia, New Zealand, visit Sri Lanka, Maldives and Seychelles, and then sendheading towards Africa. During the 36-month voyage, the ship will cover 209,000 km and will visit 375 ports, in 208 of which travelers will stay for a few days. During this time, the guests of the cruise will visit 135 countries, including stops in the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica. Because the liner is relatively small, it will be able to reach small, but very picturesque tropical islands: there are already 103 of them in the travel program.
