“I was afraid to step on them”: how did the meetings of the tallest man in the world with the smallest go (5 photos)
Sultan Kösen met the late Chandra Bahadur Dangi - the smallest man in the world - in London back in 2014, and in 2018 met in Egypt with the shortest woman in the world, an Indian actress Jyoti Amji.
However, for Kösen, both meetings were overshadowed by fear - he was always afraid that he would accidentally crush the record holders.
In an interview with the famous Turkish blogger Ruhi Chenet Kösen said: "I constantly asked the officials to keep them away from me. I was very afraid to accidentally step on them and crush them. their bodies."
“Also, I didn’t hear what they were saying at all – they were talking, but I didn’t hear their voices,” Kösen added.
And although this historical event turned out to be too exciting for Kösen, the photos turned out great!
Recently, Kösen almost lost the title of the tallest man in the world.
The height of the Turk is 251 centimeters, but the BBC found out about the guy from Ghana, which was allegedly even higher, and the journalists went to check this statement.
Suleman Abdul Samed, better known by the nickname "Avuche", during a recent medical examination, they said that it had grown to 2 meters 89 centimeters - although the measurement method turned out to be very doubtful.
Several years ago, a 29-year-old man was diagnosed with gigantism, and during a doctor's appointment to treat complications associated with this disease, he was asked to stand at the measuring scale.
The nurse was stunned to find that Avuche had outgrown the scale and soon a crowd of colleagues gathered around to help figure out how best to just to determine his height. In the end they decided to use a pole, to extend the scale.
Representatives of the BBC came to Avuche, armed with a tape measure long 4.8 meters, but then a new task appeared - to find a sufficiently high a building that he could lean against. Once the building was found Avuche removed the shoes that a local shoemaker had made for him from tires and nails, and stood with his back to the wall while his neighbor stood on stool, ready to celebrate Awuchi's growth with a piece of charcoal.
This confirmed that Avuche's height is ... only 224 centimeters.
Even if he is not the tallest man in the world at the moment, Avuche thinks he can still break the record. “I'm still growing. Who knows, maybe one day I too will achieve the same height,” he said.
Indeed, he set the bar high for himself.
