More than 4800 years ago in the Burnt City (Shakhi-Sukhta) in the Sistan (Iran) a woman with an eye prosthesis was buried. He is a hemisphere of lightweight material (obtained from bituminous paste), covered with gold with slits imitating the pupil. AT sphere had two small holes so that the prosthesis was held on lace (like a pirate bandage). The hostess wore it during the day to hide an empty eye socket, and kept it in a leather bag at night, also found in the tomb.
