The Briton built the apocalyptic bunker of his dreams (42 photos + 2 videos)
Popular video blogger Colin Furze, together with the British cable channel Sky 1 showed how to build your own bunker on case of the apocalypse. The task was simple: to build a reliable shelter, knowing that in 34 days the world will end.
Most people, at least once in a while, think about they did in the event of a universal catastrophe. Some even call themselves as "survivors" and are seriously preparing for such an event.
Not that they believed the world would end anytime soon. They just think that it is better to be as prepared as possible for this. All in all, survivalists build their own bunkers - from ordinary holes in the ground to luxurious palaces. And here is a practical guide for them.
Meet Colin Furze. He is very interesting a guy who runs a YouTube channel and was given the task of building the most the best underground bunker in case of an apocalypse
Here is a very detailed sketch, hand-drawn by him. He will start a bunker that should protect Colin and his beloved hairless cat
Colin lives in the UK and has decided that his rear the yard will be a suitable place for an underground bunker in case apocalypse. It won't be far from home and it won't take long get to a safe place
The back yard is quite large, so there is enough space. What a beautiful view to boot!
The old barn in the corner of the yard should have been demolished long ago. First things first, done with the roof
Down with the walls too! Demolition is usually the most fun part of any construction job.
The dinosaur was the main decoration of the yard. It is also designed to instill fear in any intruders.
After clearing the yard, the fence was removed and markings were applied to the lawn
It's time to bring in the heavy equipment and clear out all the rubbish
The bunker is underground, so it's time to start digging! It was necessary to dig a hole about 4 meters deep
At first the ground was soft, then it became much more difficult to dig
As you can see, Colin is delighted. Maybe because it's all funded by Sky 1?
A few more meters down, and stumbled upon a solid rock. I had to use powerful jackhammers and chisels to break stone
When the hole was dug, elements of the steel frame of the shelter were brought
We installed a few small supports and started working on the floor. I had to weld every seam to make it completely sealed.
In the end, we got a powerful reinforced steel floor.
The next step was the erection of steel walls. And again many hours of welding
One of the hardest parts is over and the underground bunker is starting to take shape
Now that the walls are up, it's time for the roof. The ceiling must be curved to evenly distribute the weight of the earth, which will be on top
>
After the ceiling was installed and welded, it came time to cover it with very strong, fiberglass reinforced concrete. Concrete was poured in several stages for greater strength Concrete was poured in several stages for strength.
Several massive load-bearing beams stretched along the ground are designed to help distribute the multi-ton weight of concrete
Colin's son could not resist and really wanted to participate in the finishing work
When the concrete was dry, Colin installed the ventilation shafts, which will supply fresh air to the underground bunker, allowing exhaust air to go outside
After the concrete is completely dry, the entire structure covered with earth and sod so that no one would ever know what was under lawn in this yard
Since the heavy equipment was no longer needed, the fence could be put back in place.
And now in the yard there was only a concrete platform with a large steel hatch
It was necessary to build a barn to hide the entrance to the bunker
So, a beautiful shed on top of a concrete pad is ready, and there is nothing unusual inside it.
But once you move the grill aside...
And lift one of the rugs, you will notice the entrance to the underground shelter
Here is the tunnel leading to the underground bunker!
Take a look at this! Absolutely incredible. This place has everything you could ever need
Of course, the kitchen. And it has a large supply of non-perishable food and water for several people.
Place to rest
A bed with a lifting mechanism to take up less space
Generator and fuel in case there is an electrical problem in the bunker
Air Filtration System
Well, like an underground bunker without a gun wall!
There is also a toilet, of course. Not very secluded, but you would be delighted with it if you were in an apocalyptic situation
There is also an entertainment center with movies and games. Oh, and a drum kit to kill the boredom
If one of the intruders tries to seize underground bunker, just turn on your remote-controlled AK-47s, aimed at the hatch, and quickly get rid of the problem!
