When it comes to modifying old 911s, owners spoiled for choice as there are many companies that strive to create the perfect specification for you. Tuners from Theon Design also decided to get a piece of this pie.
The British company Theon Design works in the same niche as and their American counterparts but Singer, but at the same time classic Porsche with modern elements from Foggy Albion are cheaper than overseas projects. This is probably what prompted the unnamed client from Belgium to order a Porsche 964-based restomod from the British – the company presented BELL001, which was the first studio car for the Belgian market. And the sports car turned out to be interesting both in terms of design and in terms of its technical part.
Traditionally, for their projects, most of the standard body panels specialists replaced metal with light carbon parts, which allowed to significantly reduce the weight of the car. And at the same time achieve optimal weight distribution along the axles - almost 50:50. Theon Design offers a variety of air-cooled flat-sixes (from 3.6 up to 4.0 liters), which can be equipped with a turbocharger.
A specific instance received a 400-horsepower compressor 3.6-liter unit in combination with a modified standard 5-speed manual transmission. The Rotrex compressor took its place air conditioner, and for symmetry in the engine compartment, elements the intercooler was placed to the left of the engine.
The factory air conditioner was replaced with a lighter modern unit, and besides that sports car was equipped with a stainless steel exhaust system and semi-active suspension. The body of BELL001 is painted blue-green, and the interior was trimmed with brown leather. To build a car Theon Design specialists took a year and a half, and the cost of the finished The restomod was $456,000, excluding the original sports car.
