The car was released in 1969 on the initiative and with direct participation of the enthusiast and admirer of the brand Don Yenko, and also Chevrolet dealer Fred Gibb through the company's system of special orders COPO (Central Office Production Order). The special unit was created by General Motors to equip cars for the needs of corporate customers, but in 1969 COPO created a modification of the Camaro model, which was prepared for quarter mile racing.



The car received an aluminum motor ZL1 427 with a power limit of 430 Horse power. The engine turned out to be much lighter and more efficient a standard Camaro engine with a cast-iron block.





Fred Gibb ordered the entire batch of cars from COPO, which consisted of 69 copies. On his own, he was able to sell only 13 of them. The rest he resold for further sale to dealers. On the today it is the rarest modification of the Camaro, for which until now since collectors are chasing around the world.



Now the unique car has been put up for auction at the auction house Mecum. It will be sold under the hammer as part of the event, which will be held from 4 to 15 January 2023. Even the approximate cost of the car is not disclosed, but presumably it will cost the new owner at least 300 thousand dollars or about 20 million rubles.
