TRRL "North" (11 photos)
SOVIET TROPOSPHERIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM TRRL NORTH, which provided communications to the Soviet North and Far East for almost 40 years.
It all started in 1966, when, by order of the Minister of Communications of the USSR, the Directorate for Technical Operation of Cable and Radio Relay Highways No. 18, later TCMS-18, was created in Yakutsk. In the same year, signalmen of the newly formed enterprise built the first tropospheric radio relay line in Yakutia, connecting the capital of the republic with Tiksi, Sangary, Ust-Maya, and Zhigansky.
At that time, this was a real breakthrough in the development of transmitting communications. After all, after this it became possible to conduct long-distance telephone conversations with any point in the Soviet Union. And a year later, the Yakutsk-Skovorodino cable line (Chita region) was put into operation, again the first in the republic, which made it possible to obtain 480 intercity and intrazonal communication channels for South Yakutia.
