The aftermath of the natural disaster, dubbed Alex, was captured on October 2 from a helicopter flying over the worst-hit area of Saint-Martin-Vésubie (Alpes-Maritimes department, France).
Severe flooding led to the collapse of a bridge and landslides. Dozens of houses were washed away by the water. Two elderly people living in the commune of Roquebillieres tried to escape the flood on the roof of their house, but ultimately drowned.
As a result of the natural disaster, several settlements were completely isolated.
