A 200-kilogram pig that lived in a British woman’s apartment was unable to leave the house on its own. The animal was sent to one of the rehabilitation centers in England.
Residents of the city of Rotherham (South Yorkshire, England) several years ago bought their grandmother what they thought was a micropig and named the pet Twiglet (Twig).
20-year-old Callie Edwards, who is the granddaughter of Elaine, the owner of the massive animal, after the death of her relative, was unable to evict the 190-kilogram “Twig” from her grandmother’s home, after which she turned to rescuers and veterinarians for help.
According to the girl, the spoiled pet is used to sleeping on its own mattress in a room with central heating and eating food from the common table in unlimited quantities.
RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) workers, rescuers and veterinarians, assessing the “scale of the disaster,” built a special stretcher to forcibly move the pig to Peppers Field, a rehabilitation center for horses and birds, where the animal had grown fat during its five-week stay. lost about 10 kilograms of weight.
“We bought a mini pig in 2017 for £60 and gave it to our grandmother for Christmas, who had long wanted a pet pig. But over the years, Twiglet became too big to walk down the stairs on her own. After my grandmother passed away, we tried to evacuate her, but were faced with an obvious lack of understanding on the part of the pig, who was accustomed to comfort.
She was definitely living a luxurious life in the apartment, but it wasn't quite the right place for her and we decided to take the pig to a rehabilitation center, where she wouldn't be as comfortable, but would definitely prolong our pet's life,” Callie Edwards told local media.
