Yakutia. Russian Ustye. At the intersection of the 71st parallel and the 149th meridian there is a unique settlement, where Russian settlers found themselves in harsh climatic conditions (temperatures close to zero even in summer) more than 400 years ago, forced to flee Novgorod from the oprichnina of the times of Ivan the Terrible. Despite the close proximity to the indigenous local population, the refugees retained the Russian language and traditions.
