Every morning, a homeless dog sat outside the school until a kind-hearted person appeared in his life (10 photos)

When elementary school teacher Caleb Shaffer arrived at work, he never expected to find a dog at the door. The stray animal immediately began to wag its tail. The man went to class, but thoughts about the mongrel bothered him. The next day, a Texas resident met a new acquaintance in the same place and decided to help him.

“He was sitting right by the door, and when he saw me, he started wagging his tail,” Caleb says of the stray animal.

Shaffer had to go to work, and after class the dog was gone. The teachers were literally haunted by thoughts about the mongrel.

The next morning the teacher met the dog again

"He was clearly happy to see me. I began to notice how terrible the condition of his skin was and how much he was suffering. He was constantly itching and whining."

Caleb wanted to take the animal to the vet, but students were waiting for him in the classroom

As soon as the school bell rang at the end of the day, Shaffer immediately went to look for the dog, but he was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, in the morning he met the four-legged creature in the same place. “This time he ran up to greet me,” Caleb recalls. “I went back to my car, called him over, tried to lure him with a piece of tofu. In the end, I just picked him up and put him in the car.”

There was little time left before classes, so the Texan brought the animal home, where his wife looked after him

According to the rules of the house in which the family lives, it is allowed to have no more than two dogs.

Caleb managed to find a shelter for Clive in Harris County, where veterinarians took care of his health: they treated his wounds and prescribed medicine

Caleb’s help didn’t end there: the man sent pictures and the dog’s history to Urgent Shelter Pets of Houston

The teacher also organized a fundraiser for Clive’s treatment.

Volunteers from Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption saw a video about Clive and found him an owner

A couple in Austin, Texas, offered to take the dog. And when Clive first met his owners, it was obvious that he couldn't wait to become part of their family.

"From the moment we got him, this boy was full of life and love," said Stephanie Broughton of Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption Dodo. "We knew he was special."

"He's perfect. He's amazing. And full of energy," said Clive's owner Justin Blackburn.

"You can't imagine the joy that comes from just adopting an animal from a shelter. Someone so small can have a huge impact on your life. And it changes everything."

Clive will always have a special place in Shaffer's heart and he will never stop telling his students how important it is to care for animals

“Stray animals are everywhere. In my lessons, I cover topics such as sterilization, disease prevention, shelters. This rescue story helps raise awareness and teach children to be better about animals,” concluded Caleb.
