A German shepherd named Rex fought to the death with two armed robbers who broke into a private home. The dog received several bullets, but stood until the end and managed to hold off the criminals from the teenager, the son of the owners, until the police arrived. Doctors saved his life.

The loyalty of dogs is a well-known thing, but every new shining example of such devotion is amazing. Yesterday there was a post about a dog who was on duty at the grave of his late owner for ten years until he himself went to a better world. Today we have a different story: an equally faithful friend was ready to sacrifice himself to protect a person.

In the evening, robbers broke into one of the private houses in the suburbs of Des Moines, Washington. Apparently, they did not know that anyone was at home. But on the second floor, the owners’ 16-year-old son, Javier, was in his bedroom. It was he who heard a strange noise below.

Javier didn't understand what was happening until the sound of breaking glass was heard. The guy immediately called 911. He was very scared and decided to hide in the closet. Rex, who was in the room with him, immediately rushed downstairs. There was barking, noise, screams and a shot. After some time, the dog returned to the room.

Meanwhile, the robbers searched the first floor and went up to Javier's room. It was clear that they would soon find him and possibly kill him. After all, if the dog is at home, then one of the owners is at home - and these are unnecessary witnesses. Rex jumped out of the closet, overcoming the pain, and rushed at one of the criminals.

The second began to beat him with a baton, then shot again. A total of three bullets hit Rex. He collapsed on the floor, exhausted, bleeding. Javier and his faithful friend probably would have died that night, but then police sirens were heard in the distance. This scared the bandits and they fled.

The criminals have not yet been found. And they called an ambulance for Rex and took him to the veterinary clinic. After several operations and blood transfusions, his life was saved. It’s hard for him now, but the doctors say he’ll get better.

Javiera's aunt has created a GoFundMe page to raise money for Rex's treatment. It will take ten thousand dollars, but good people who were impressed by the story have already collected more than 27 thousand in just one day.
