When it comes to cute pets, people rarely think of rats. Much more often, humanity tries to get rid of rodents using the most sophisticated methods.
And although some rats have indeed earned themselves a bad reputation, most of them are smart, kind, and also know how to love - and this is a fact.
And if you still don’t believe me, then we suggest you read this story about a woman who brought home a rat she rescued from the street... and introduced it to her dog.
The woman who became the rodent's foster mother found the rat when it was only 4 weeks old. Everyone was very skeptical about the new pet. And all because there was a dog at home. Not a very good neighborhood, considering that dogs are hunters by nature.
That is why the owner was so nervous when introducing the animals.
But the baby is very lucky! The dog named Osiris was definitely different from his relatives, who would not play with a small rodent for a long time. There was something different about this dog... something that made him the perfect friend for Reef Rutt the rat...
The three-year-old Dutch shepherd Osiris is a therapy dog, which may be why the dog treats his new neighbor so simply and friendly. Well, or two random animals turned out to be kindred spirits, whose friendship is not affected by body shape in any way.
“Osiris has helped raise and care for dozens of animals, and he is the most gentle dog I have ever met,” says the owner.
Dutch Shepherds are truly famous for their obedience and amazing ability to train quickly.
Now the pets spend all their time together. The owners even noticed a very strange, but at the same time funny habit of this cheerful couple: a small rat climbs headlong into the dog’s mouth in order to... brush the dog’s teeth!))
Looks like tiny Reef Rutt is planning on becoming a dentist when he grows up.
“Reef Ratt really enjoys licking the inside of Osiris’s lips. I'm sure you're all wondering if we're afraid Osiris will eat the rat, so the answer is no!” added their owner.
Although the friendship of such different animals is extremely rare, these two could not be more affectionate with each other. Their tenderness is 100%!
Osiris, for example, expresses his affection and gratitude for the services of the “dentist” through gifts. In this photo, a dog shares one of his favorite toys with a rat!
Although for Reef Rutt it is probably much more pleasant to receive kisses from a friend as a “thank you”. Moments like these can probably show how happy these two are!
Osiris loves the rat so much that he gives it kisses from paws to head, but for Reef Ratt this is not just an expression of love, but also a very good bath!)
“Reef Rutt also likes to be in pockets,” the owners say. It seems that this is indeed the case. If he's not spending time with Osiris, he's bound to be found in someone's shirt pocket.
Although even this small hobby does not overshadow Reef Ratt’s friendship with his beloved dog. And that's great!
“Seeing how much they care for each other, I think there is still a little hope for other creatures on the planet, especially humans,” says their owner.
